Notes for Knud Nilsen Livdahl
Knud’s father Niels is the son of Nilsen (Ganderud-Plass)

Knud from Grens gaard and Barbra from Wassenrud gaard grew up on farms approximately three miles apart near the east shore of Lake Kroderen in the Sigdal district of Buskerud, 40 miles west of Oslo, Norway. The Grens farm (Grensgaard) is near the Krodsherad church in Sigdal; the Wassenrud farm (Wassenrudgaard) was at the extreme south tip of Lake Kroderen.

-- Morgan Olson in the “Nils Livdahl Book” as cited by Stanley Johnson, in “The Kølbjorn Livdahl Story”

Before emigrating, Knud lived near Grensgaard, which is near Kroderen in the Hallingdal valley of Norway. Two of his sons (Nils and John) were born there.
