Steen-Frost Family Web Site Map

Ancestors. A special gallery of photo albums, one for each major branch of the family tree. Each album begins with a brief history of the branch in relation to the Steen-Frost family.

Biographies.Personal profiles of individuals appear either as a biographical or obituary Note> at the end of a person page, or in the Documents section of this website (or occasionally in both places).

Branches. A special gallery with graphical images in two forms (trees and fans) of five major branches of the Steen-Frost family tree. An alternative pdf version can be found at Lynn & Mary SteenŐs Ancestors. Although none of these family trees include live links to ancestors, they are helpful in suggesting names to look up in the live-linked (public) indexes of Surnames and Full Names.

Documents. This major section contains selected writing by and about members of the Steen-Frost family. Most, but not all, are password protected.

Frost Family Albums. Password-protected web versions of old family photo albums from the family of Reuben (Jack) Frost and Jean Timmons Frost.

Family Pages. The basic web view generated by the genealogy program Reunion show husbands and wives side by side with parents listed above and children below. Links to other spouses, if any, appear below the boxes for husbsands and wives. Family pages contain minimal information, serving primarily as navigational aids to locate and link to individuals. (See Person Pages below.)

Genealogy. An overview page that provides links to both the public and password-protected versions of the Steen-Frost Family Genealogy. It also contains links to names of major family branches within the family tree as well as to related documents and web pages with genealogical information.

Home Card (public). The home family card for Lynn Steen and Mary Frost Steen--the root of the Steen-Frost family tree--in the public version of the on-line genealogy.

Home Card (private). The home family card for Lynn Steen and Mary Frost Steen--the root of the Steen-Frost family tree--in the (complete) password protected version of the on-line genealogy.

Home Page. The top-level page of the Steen-Frost Family History and Genealogy web site. All pages on the site are linked below this one.

(Full Name) Index. A comprehensive list of full names of people in the Steen-Frost Family Genealogy, each linked to an appropriate Family Page in the public version of the on-line genealogy. (The parallel (Full Name) Index links to the password-protected version of the on-line genealogy.)

Errors. Inevitably, errors and inconsistencies intrude in a project that relies so heavily on family records and memories. Inconsistencies, when noted, are signaled with [square brackets]. (Additions, corrections and other correspondence are welcome by email to Lynn A. Steen or Mary E. Steen.)

Navigation. Since the Steen-Frost Family Tree contains over 2000 individuals, it is easy to get lost. The bold-faced names found on the genealogy index pages such as Genealogy (Overview), (Public) Genealogy, and (Password-protected) Genealogy provide links to early members of various branches of the family tree. Other linked names can be found in the Surname List and the Name Index.

Obituaries.Like biographies, obituaries appear either as a Note at the end of a person page, or in the Documents section of this website (or occasionally in both places).

Passwords. Many pages on this web site are intended only for relatives of the extended Steen-Frost family and require a username and password. The Reunion-based genealogy is posted on this site in two forms—a complete version that is password-protected, and a public version that omits some details on most living individuals. (Anyone wishing to view protected items should contact Lynn A. Steen or Mary E. Steen.)

Person Pages. These pages focus on a single individual and display all the information in the Reunion database about that person and his or her immediate family. Spouses and children are displayed below the featured person, followed by various comments, biographies, and obituaries. It is important, therefore, to scroll to the bottom of each person page so as not to miss important information. (Note: In the public version of the Steen-Frost Family Tree, personal data about some individuals are suppressed to preserve privacy. The complete data, available to family members, is password-protected.)

Photos. An overview of various photo albums, many of which are password protected.

Places. Information and photos about geographical and historical places associated with members of the extended Steen-Frost family are located in the Places section.

Profiles. Reminiscences and other short personal profiles are located in the Notes section of person pages, sometimes under the subhead Biography, Obituary, or Miscellaneous Notes. (To see all relevant information, be sure to scroll to the bottom of each screen.)

Reunion. The database for the Steen-Frost Genealogy is maintained on an iMac in the genealogy program Reunion, which creates many of the pages, charts, and indices that appear on this website. Reunion generates both Family Pages and Person Pages (explained above), in both public and password-protected versions.
