Notes for Elizabeth Hay
Elizabeth, also recorded as Elisabeth, was brought up at Burnbrae Farm, Symington, Ayrshre, Scotland. After her marriage to William she resided at Lavemill or Milton Mill on the River Irvine. At some stage, probably after William died, she resided in Kilmarnock. Elizabeth's sister Ann married William's brother Adam in 1811.

The 1851 Census of Kilmarnock, Scotland, Enumeration District 26, Page 2 contains the entry : "2 Bogue Green, Elisabeth Andrew aged 63, head of household, widow, formerly a miller's wife, born in Dundonald." The only person staying with her was "Elisab (sic) Graham (q.v.), her grand-daughter aged 6 born in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire." Her forename is spelt Elisabeth in the Census Return.

In later life Elizabeth resided at Main Street in Kilwinning with her son Hugh and family. She died at this address.
