Notes for William Hay Graham
William was known as "Gray" in the immediate family (c.f. Violet "Gray" Hutton, mother of the author). He was Chief Customs Officer in Auckland, N.Z. in the 1920's (Source: Olwyn Watson nee Guthrie 1999). Olwyn says that her father's "cousin Willie" speeded up customs procedures for Douglas when he was returning from business trips to Australia for Guthrie Bowron. His residences included 60 Esplanade Rd, Mt Eden (1938) and 143 Long Drive, St Heliers Bay, Auckland (1961). William was captain of the Auckland cricket team.
