Notes for Ivan Graham Guthrie
Ivan was brought up and educated in Dunedin and Auckland, N.Z. Initially he worked for Guthrie Bowron in Auckland. He left the company in 1957 and went into partnership to establish an electronics business (Hi-Fi), Smith's Sound.
Ivan died in hospital while undergoing exploratory surgery for a prostate condition. He had suffered from a heart condition prior to this. Ivan's funeral service was held at the Church of St. Thomas, Kohimarama, Auckland. For further information see NZ Herald (online) Death Notices in Don Hutton's Guthrie File. Ivan's ashes were scattered off Arran Bay, Waiheke Island in November 1999.
