Ole K. Rauk was born on the farm Rauk in Næs in Hallingdal, March 12, 1843 to parents Knud Rauk and Birgit Aslesdatter.  In the spring of 1859 he emigrated to America with his parents and five sisters and brothers and they came straight to Spring Grove.  His father bought twenty acres of land five miles south of town and they farmed there a few years.  Later Ole bought land next to his father’s farm and by hard work and frugal living, he became the owner of 200 acres of land.  In 1865 he married Gunhild Ellingsdatter Snedkerpladsen from Krødsherrad.  They had nine children, eight are still living.
