Margaret was known as "Maggie." She attended Wakari School, Dunedin (admitted 16 Jan 1875 and again on 16 Jan 1878). (Ref: NZSG Index CD 2003). It is likely that the 1875 date is incorrect - probably a transcription error. She was only 3 years old in 1875.
In 1893 Margaret was recorded on the first parliamentary Electoral Roll for women. She resided in the Caversham Electorate at Hart Street, Roslyn, Dunedin.
For many years after the death of Walter, Margaret resided at 69 Clyde Street, Dunedin. The author, her great nephew Donald Barrie Hutton #1 was a regular visitor from Greymouth during school vacations from the mid 1940s until c.1953.
