Notes for Caroline Middleton
Died at Rose Valley Mills, Lot 67, on Monday the 3rd inst. after a short illness of Rheumatism. Caroline, wife of Francis Andrew Esq., aged 41 years, deeply lamented by a husband and nine children for the good qualities as a wife and mother and by all her friends and acquaintences for her many estimable qualities. Blessed are the dead that lie in the Lord.

-- The Examiner, Charlottetown, Mon. 23 Jan 1865, p. 3.

==========

Gravestone: “In memory of Caroline, beloved wife of Francis Andrew. Died Dec. 27 1864 Aet. 41.”

==========

Wallace Andrew remembers hearing about “3 boys” in this family. PEI archives appear to confirm this by reporting that Caroline died “leaving nine children”--presumably five from her first marriage and four from her second.

Caroline’s name in the P.E.I. marriage record is recorded as “Catherine Middleton,” but that is most likely a mistake either in the record or in the transcription.
