Notes for Johan George Henne
According to Mildred Wilkinson, Johan’s daughter, Johan’s mother Margaret Eberhart had a sister who brought Johan to the United States in 1872 when he was 7 years old. He lived with his aunt’s family in Englewood on the south side of Chicago. Mildred remembers visiting them as a child.

“Uncle George, and a very dear man, married Aunt Millie (French) also a sweet person. They had a son George, married and lived in Seattle Wash. Had two daughters Betty and Vera, [both a] little younger than I. I met them when I was out there in my late teens. Betty was a marvelous swimmer and Vera became a top ballet dancer—she danced for the president once. Uncle George also had Ruth (who became a surgical nurse). Evelyn married Everett Johnson and moved to Orlando, Florida. I kept correspondence each Xmas until six years ago when both died. The youngest, Mildred, was one year older than I. I played with her, as they lived on the same street a block away.”
